MEMBERSHIP NEWS
by Michelle Maloney

Response to our 2002 membership drive has been very rewarding The current total now stands at 139 and we continue to receive new and renewed memberships every week.

Our dues are put to good use. In addition to buying books, equipment, and materials, FRIENDS provides volunteers to help with library tasks and to maintain the flowerbeds in front of the library. Check our exciting web site (see the address on the back of this publication) to read about our many more important activities.

Remember that the general meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM in the library multipurpose room and usually last an hour. Please come to see what we're doing and to share your ideas!

Thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm and wonderful support. Working together we are enriching the lives of all of those in our community.

A BIG THANKS TO
UNITED COMMUNITY BANKS
by Pat Scott

When Teresa Dorton, Marketing Director for U. C. B. found out, at one of our Friends of the Library meetings, that some of our computers were giving us trouble, she took the information back to Jimmy Tallent at United Community Banks. He immediately authorized the donation of a brand new Dell computer system, loaded with Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, and internet access.

Our thanks go to Mr. Tallent, Ms. Dorton, to Randy Hughes for trouble-shooting, to Brandon Dockery for installing the reading, math and science educational games onto disks for the two children's computers, giving easier access.

What a great community we have!

FRIENDS FEATURED AT
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

If any of you are in the Chamber Of Commerce office in July you might notice that Friends of the Library has items displayed in the display case for the month of July. Our thanks to the Chamber for the opportunity (free!) to share information with Chamber members and potential county residents.
