MEETINGS AND MINUTES

 
 
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the library's Community Room. The meetings last an hour or so. Everyone is invited to attend. There's a lot of work to be done. The more hands, the merrier the work!
 
NOTE:  A draft of the minutes of the last monthly meeting are posted below.  It will be read, revised, if necessary, and approved at the next meeting.

Friends of Union County Library Meeting

April 15, 2015

The meeting was called to order by Sally Woodworth at 2PM.

 

Our guest, Diana, the library outreach and training coordinator, was recognized.

 

Minutes

Dismissal time was changed on March meeting minutes, motion was made, seconded and passed to accept minutes as is.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer’s report made.  A copy of this report was given to all in attendance and is available upon request.  Motion was made, seconded and passed that the report be approved.

 

Librarian

  • National Library week is April 12-18. Items being given out to observe this event.

  • The book portion of the Michael bequest is now depleted.

  • Out of the furniture portion, the library needs a curio cabinet; the tech portion will purchase the disc repair machine.

  • Mike Grimes will be here Friday 10-12:00 to give cost on repairs for old books and Family Bibles.

  • Towns Cty Barbara Hale, has requested we have someone from North Georgia on the Friends of Georgia Board, please let Susie know if you can be involved with this program.

  • Dianna spoke about her program of outreach to the community that lets people know what the Library has to offer. She volunteered to be a part of the UCFM day and other events around the community where we will have the raffle tickets.

 

Committee Reports

  • Membership -  to date is 147
  • Raffle - drawing date is October 21 at the regular meeting.  There are five different categories to choose from, including cash, a quilt, gift certificates, family and children’s events, restaurants, golfing and fishing.  With another $40, each box will be worth $400. Sarah P. and Joanne O. are helping Arlene to ready these boxes for the sale of tickets.
  • Miles of Pennies – students will help with posters to show the progress of collections of the $844 in pennies it takes to make a mile. Motion made and accepted to all any funds collected, whatever denomination, be receipted for Miles of Pennies.

 

Unfinished Business

  • Sally and members of committee met with Susie about people adopting an author.  Should be an “automatically yours book” or contact Susie for approval.  There should be forms available for patrons to use for this contribution.
  • Story time and library supplies – needs donations of items; cotton balls, tongue depressors, wiggly eyes, snack foods, etc.  Publicize to patrons the items needed each month. Susie will run this by the Story time coordinators for ideas.
  • FOUCL can possibly do a fund raiser for Library office supplies. Could have a question of the week box for donations. This can be completed at a later date.
  • Picnic – May 2, 2015 gather at 11:30AM, lunch, games, book exchange, door prizes. Pavilion at Senior Center.  Committee will purchase/get donation of barbeque from Jim’s Smoking Q’, patrons bring side items. We can approach vendors around town for donations of tea, paper products.
