A Message from the President

It is my great pleasure to commend the Friends of Union County  Library officers and committee members at this time. In the past 7-8 years since I have been part of FOL, wonderful people have blessed my life. Pattie Hamilton encouraged me to "jump in with two feet" when I first joined, and Pat Scott's diligence and heart for our library was an inspiration. I miss these special ladies very much (most of you know that they have both passed away), and yet, they remain in my heart always and continue to be part of the very fabric of our organization.

Ken Johnson has been a pillar of the group, faithfully executing the quarterly newsletter with his professional and excellent style for all these years. Current Vice President Judy Shaner has and does serve in several capacities and is given to meticulous detail in all of her work. Jane Thompson has been especially creative and conscientious, with grace and flair, in all of the social events sponsored by FOL. Within my scope, Joseph Adams (past) and Miki Rice (current) have both been excellent treasurers who expedite all the business matters with accuracy and proficiency. Judy Vaughn has served in many areas, currently as the e-committee, and was one of the very first people involved with the establishment of our group. Fran Scanlon-Sills wears several hats at the same time and does a remarkable job with membership and publicity and is one of the first to volunteer when needed in any capacity. Our special current secretary, Jeanie Bullock, gives her own inimitable stamp of elegance to the meetings as she takes the minutes.
Other wonderful people have also served and are to be commended, as well.  I am unable to mention each one by name in this message, but please know that you are thanked and appreciated. At this writing, these that I have mentioned come to my mind as people who have directly impacted not only my life, but have made their mark through their loyal and dedicated efforts. It has been and continues to be an honor to be associated with these fine folks and I applaud each one for being the foundation, heart, and soul of Friends.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve with you, and I offer my heartfelt thanks to each one of you.
