President's Message

Library news this issue: Commissioner Paris is working on a plan to provide landscaping (trees?) on the sides of the building and Learning Center toward the new Bi-Lo. Keep your fingers crossed!

We have some statistics from Wilma on FY 2001 (through June 30): circulation for the year was 166,395, of which 21,6l9 were juvenile books; total patrons were 50,697 (averaged about 225 daily in June and July alone); new cards issued were 1,472; children at storytime were 1,334; reference questions were 5,227; 3,605 used the meeting room; internet users were 6,173. So, we can see that we really are the busiest in the Mountain Regional Library System. If you can devote a couple of hours a week as a volunteer to help shelve books or organize the book sale room (even if it is only in the summer), please give Wilma a call.
