| The fiscal year for Friends of the Library runs from January 1 to December 31, and our membership drive for the new year begins this month. Since we are a nonprofit organization, we rely on dues and fundraisers to finance our yearly support activities for the library. |
|
| Ths year we have been working very hard to supplement the library needs. We have purchased new chairs for the computers and books on tape for children. We continue to maintain the New Library Fund and the Books for Babies program. Through our efforts, United Community Bank has donated a new computer with soft ware for library use, and the columns in the front of the building have been repaired by one of our members. We continued the Wilma Ash Scholarship for advanced study in Library Science; and, of course, we continue to show our appreciation for the hard work of the library staff with small gifts and cards. Very little of our income is spent on operating expenses. The bulk goes to direct support of the library. |

| The membership application for the new year is at the bottom of page 3 in this publication. Please take a moment to complete it and return it with your check. Because of budget cutbacks, we are needed more than ever! In addition, please watch for our membership forms in the BRMEMC mailings. Encourage your friends and neighbors to join us! Together we do make a difference. |
