A Message from the President.... |
|
Happy Summer to all Friends! Summer brings many time consuming activities outdoors, but don't forget to keep a book going! Also, our monthly meetings continue all year round, so please do try to fit a Friends of the Library meeting into your busy schedule on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the library's multi-purpose room. We are in need of more active Friends to share ideas and implement programs. Please come, and bring a friend! (Pun intended!) |

Volunteering in Friends of the Library has been very rewarding for me. When I served under the direction of president Pattie Hamilton for two years as publicity chair, I found myself eager to write many articles for the newspaper. It was exciting to see my work in print and the responsibility was an honor to get the information out to the community. Next, I served as secretary for two years, under the direction of president Pat Scott. My laptop came in quite handy to take the minutes and I found myself learning much as I listened closely to record our meetings accurately. |

It was sad to say goodbye to Pattie and Pat as they both passed away not long ago. Yet, they have left a legacy of love for our library. Their foundation is what we build on today. We all benefit from their labors of love and it is truly an honor to serve in Friends of the Library. If you are interested to become part of this special, active group, if you have a heart for Union County Public Library, and would like to carry on to make it be even better, please bring your fresh new ideas and dedication to our next regular meeting. There are many fruitful opportunities awaiting you! |
